Beef + Lamb New Zealand Inc (BLNZ) is proudly responsible for the generic domestic promotion of beef and lamb on behalf of its stakeholders. BLNZ’s health and nutrition portfolio is held in high regard within the range of promotional activities, with a history of having Registered Nutritionists and/or Dietitians on staff to translate nutrition science into evidence-based, meaningful nutrition messaging and advice.

Reporting to the Head of Nutrition, the ideal candidate will be a Registered Nutritionist or Dietitian with at least three years’ work experience, and ideally with a proven record of working in collaboration across sectors such as public health, research and industry.

A passion and strength in nutrition communication in all forms is essential for the role to further enhance the understanding between meat and health at all levels, from government, health professionals, media and the general public. It is expected the ideal candidate will keep up-to-date with relevant international and national health and nutrition research and liaise with the wider industry and local researchers as required.

At its core, the role requires the ability to critically analyse and translate nutrition science from published literature, national and global health and sustainability reports and decipher what it means for the New Zealand red meat industry, New Zealand health professionals and the general public. In essence, the ideal candidate will be proficient in consolidating evidence-based nutrition information and be able to successfully tailor a communication style and tone to suit various briefs and audiences.

In conjunction with the nutrition and marketing teams, the successful candidate will support nutrition programmes and campaigns to promote the nutritional and environmentally sustainable attributes of New Zealand beef and lamb within the context of balanced, sustainable diets and lifestyles. This includes reviewing and developing resources, underwriting nutrition-related digital content, and responding to nutrition queries from the general public, health professionals and the BLNZ team.

The successful candidate will support the Nutrition and Marketing Executive with aspects of marketing, design and digital communication in relation to nutrition-related online content. The role will also involve being an active member of various national and international nutrition and industry-related working groups.

Proficiency in recipe analysis using FoodWorks 10 software is preferred, as well as experience in student supervision, project management, managing external relationships and guest lecturing.

From time to time, other non-nutrition tasks will be required to support broader industry activity, including helping with and attending industry events.
